What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser Hair Removal is the latest technological advance in hair removal, which produces permanent results. This new technology is designed to remove unwanted hair faster, more comfortably and efficiently than other methods currently available. Because it clears large areas of hair in a matter of minutes, laser hair reduction is very cost effective.
Laser hair removal treatments are most effective during the active growth phase. Because the hair cycles through three phases; active growth, regression and resting, it takes a number of treatments to produce an effective permanent solution.
How Does It Work?
A laser produces a beam of highly concentrated light. The pigment located in hair follicles absorbs the light emitted by the laser. The laser pulses for a fraction of a second, just long enough to vaporize the pigment, disabling several follicles at a time to eliminate or significantly impede the hair's re-growth. Laser hair removal has no affect on blond or white hairs, due to the lack of pigment.
The clinic is proud to offer the world's leading laser, the Coherent LightSheet Diode Laser, for permanent hair reduction.
What Can You Expect?
The length of a laser session may be a few minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated. Because the laser tends to treat hair follicles that are in an active growth phase, more than one treatment may be required to disable hair follicles that subsequently enter this growth phase.
Immediate after-effects, if any, are minor. They may include redness and swelling, which disappear in a short time. Most people return to normal activity right away.
Is it safe?
Yes, the LightSheer Diode is FDA approved for permanent hair reduction. Its' special contact cooling handpiece directs the laser energy to the hair root while protecting and cooling the surrounding skin.
Are all lasers created equal?
There are vast numbers of marketing claims regarding the effectiveness of lasers in hair removal. The consumer must be aware that there are huge differences in the properties of the different lasers and the number of treatments that may be required. The power of the laser must also be sufficient to stop the growth of hair. For the consumer, the bottom line is effectiveness and cost. Certain lasers may require 3 to 8 treatments to permanently reduce the hair, whereas some may require 10 to 20 treatments and may produce only a temporary effect.
At Atrium Laser & Electrolysis Clinic, we pride ourselves in using the gold standard in the laser hair removal industry, the LightSheer Diode Laser which is designed specifically for permanent hair removal with the power (1600 watts) and the protection (chill tip) to maintain the integrity of the skin. Unlike other multi purpose lasers on the market, which range in power from 200-500 watts, the LightSheer Diode outperforms every time.
Hair removal is a specialty where skill and experience determine the final outcome.
