Laser Hair Removal in CambridgeFeel Good about Looking Great
Unwanted hair is a problem shared by both men and women. While unwanted or excess hair is primarily a cosmetic concern, it can be very distressing to those who suffer its effects. Unwanted hair can be the source of considerable embarrassment, limiting people's activities and lifestyles.
High-tech lasers and light sources are rapidly changing the treatment for hair removal. Among laser and light-based devices, the IPL system is the gold standard for safety, superior results, and patient satisfaction.
Finally, a new treatment solution produces long-lasting results across the full range of unwanted hair problems. This breakthrough technology uses broadband, Intense Pulsed Light technology to damage hair follicles for long-term hair removal. It has shown to be a successful method for reducing unwanted, unsightly hairs. Numerous published studies in professional medical journals attest the IPL system's safety and long-term effectiveness.
The IPL system hair removal process is called photo-epilaton, which is based on the principle of selective photothermolysis. This means that the light energy is absorbed in the target hair follicles while sparing the surrounding, healthy tissue.
With its powerful, innovative software, IPL system treatment parameters can be selected by your physician according to an individual's specific skin colour, hair colour and hair density. This major advantage allows the physician to customize each individual treatment based on personal experience, as well as the unique attributes of each hair follicle.
As a result of this computer generated precision, the IPL system has proven effective on the widest range of skin types - from porcelain white through olive to dark brown complexions.
In addition, IPL system technology enables the physician to efficiently remove hair from any part of the body, no matter how deep the follicles may reside. Treatment of sensitive areas like the lips, ears, nose, underarms, and bikini line can usually be easily tolerated.
Is Laser Hair Removal safe?
If it is done under the guidance of a physician, and all the counseling guidelines are followed through, then it is a very safe procedure.
Is Laser Hair Removal effective for blonde or white hair?
Laser rays are attracted to pigment (colour), hence contrary to commonly made claims, laser hair removal is not recommended or successful for blonde or white hair.
How many treatment sessions are commonly needed?
Although we recommend between 4 & 7 treatments, a noticeable difference is apparent even after one treatment.
Is Laser Hair Removal painful?
It is not a painless procedure, however we use an advanced laser with a cooling device in order to minimize the discomfort. Anesthetic cream can also be used to minimize the pain sensation. It is significantly less painful and far quicker than electrolysis.
Is Laser Hair Removal permanent?
After each treatment a certain number of hair follicles are destroyed permanently and many others lead to finer lighter hair growth. Although "permanent" can never be guaranteed with any technology, Laser Hair Removal is as close to permanent as possible.
Can electrolysis give you permanent hair removal?
Although electrolysis is also very effective in hair removal, it is an extremely painful procedure and requires repeated treatments. It is more expensive that Laser Hair Removal and has more side effects. It also requires one to grow the hair to a certain length to enable the electrolysis machine to work. There is no such requirement for Laser Hair Removal.
Can Laser Hair Removal lead to skin depigmentation?
This is certainly a problem with pigmented skin especially with fast-pulsed lasers. However using a high grade, slow pulse laser under a physician's guidance we take every precaution to avoid this side-effect. We treat a lot of people of Portugese and East Indian heritage and have never experienced this issue.
What areas of the body can be treated?
Commonly treated areas are the face, arms, legs, back and the bikini area.
