I am a certified electrologist with over 23 years experience and established my clinic in Durham region in 1983. My clients are cared for in a friendly, confidential atmosphere.

In the past years I have provided electrolysis and laser hair removal in the offices of a dermatologist and more recently for an obstetrician/gynecologist. I have had the opportunity to work with several different types of equipment and have kept current with the latest technology in electrolysis services and equipment. The Light Sheer Diode laser has been used in my clinic for the last six years.

Electrolysis
Electrolysis has been around for over 100 years. It was first discovered by an ophthalmologist to treat an ingrown eyelash.

A very fine disposable probe is carefully inserted alongside the hair follicle. A small amount of current is then applied for a fraction of a second to the bottom of the follicle. This will disable the cells which in turn will not be able to produce another hair.

Electrolysis treatments are safe and can treat any area of the face or body as well as any colour of hair.

Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal uses a low-energy laser. The laser energy passes through the patient's skin, being absorbed by the pigment in the hair. This causes thermal damage to the follicle which delays growth and permanent destruction of the hairs. Blonde, white or gray hairs are in-effective with this treatment. (Lack of pigment).
Is Laser Hair Removal Safe?
Yes, Lasers used for hair removal targets only the pigment of the hair. The lightsheer diode laser has patented chill tip that cools to a temperature of 4°C. This helps cool the skin during the treatment.

Which Treatment is Better?
Both electrolysis and laser treatments are effective to eliminate unwanted hair permanently. The laser is best for dark coarse hairs where by electrolysis is better for finer hairs. Many need a combination of both.
